[Also in Group XXXIII] A disengageable two-part joint comprises an elongated member 1 having an axial recess 5, a coupling-piece 2 at one end, a bore 6 at the other end coaxial with the recess and of smaller diameter than the recess, a part-spherical seat 8 formed where the bore merges with the recess a transverse aperture 9 leading into the recess, and a longitudinal slot 10 extending through into the recess throughout the length of the slot, having a width less than that of the aperture and uniting the aperture to the bore, and also a cross-shaped member having three arms 12, 13, 14 provided with engagement eyes and a fourth arm terminating in a ball 16 of such dimensions, that it can pass into the recess through the transverse aperture and engage the partspherical seat. The joint may be used for lifting and lowering boats.
