Abstract

917,887. Rectilinear motion bearings. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. Aug. 2, 1961 [Aug. 13, 1960], No. 28151/61. Class 12 (1). A recirculatory ball-bearing for rectilinear motion comprises an outer sleeve 1 and an inner sleeve 6, positioned concentrically with a space therebetween. The outer sleeve is provided with radial inwardly directed end rims 3 and 4, and also has an axially extending C-shaped slot 2. The rim 3 is formed with lugs 5 which engage suitable recesses 7 on the inner sleeve 6 to prevent relative rotary movement between said sleeves. The inner sleeve is also provided with axial slots 10 which are so positioned in relation to the slots in the outer sleeve as to permit recirculatory movement of balls 11 in the space between said sleeves guided by the slots 2 and 10 in respective sleeves. The slots 10 in the inner sleeve 6 are longer than the distance between ends 12 of the C-shaped slot 2 in sleeve 1 so as to permit the balls 11 to rise from shaft or guide-bearing surface 13 to cylindrical surface 14 of the inner sleeve 6 during circulation. Alternative ways of securing the concentric sleeves are shown together with an embodiment wherein the bearing is formed to move in a cylindrical bore as opposed to the shaft or external cylindrical guide surface described above.
