917,806. Making bellows; corrugating; jointing by stamping; flanging. CLAUSEN, M., [trading as DANFOSS VED INGENIOR M. CLAUSEN]. Nov. 26, 1959 [Dec. 11, 1958], No. 40167/59. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of manufacturing bellows from a tubular blank by means of an hydraulic or mechanical pressure produced inside the tube when placed in a forming tool having inside corrugations, the said bellows being provided with an attachment ring at one end and an end plate at the other end, is characterized in that the attachment ring is passed into position over one end of the tube before the latter is placed' in the tool, and corrugations are formed in the tube on each side of the ring by the hydraulic or mechanical pressure. The forming tool comprises a number of axially disposed templates 1 guided in a cylindrical container 2. One end of the tube 3 which has been passed through the central apertures in the templates is closed by an end plate 8 and in the other end is inserted a plunger 10 through which pressure fluid is supplied to the tube interior, and an attachment ring is placed over the tube end and positioned between templates 13 and 14. The corrugations of the bellows are formed either simultaneously or, by adjusting the position of the plunger, one at a time and finally the attachment is soldered to at least one corrugation to seal the joint. In another embodiment, one half of the templet 13 and the templet 14 are removed and replaced by a plunger 17 which compresses the last corrugation to form a flange 18 (Fig. 3). The formed bellows is placed in a casing 20 to which the attachment ring is soldered to provide a sealed space within the casing. The attachment ring is provided with a reinforcing annular corrugation 19.
