917,623. Hydraulic apparatus; valves. SOC. D'APPLICATIONS DES MACHINES MOTRICES. June 9, 1961 [June 21, 1960], No. 20950/61. Classes 69 (2) and 135. An hydraulic circuit comprises one or more hydraulic jacks or motors 1, each having a distributer 2, the distributers being arranged in parallel between a feed circuit 3 and a return circuit 4 and each distributer having a by-pass device 28, 29 which momentarily by-passes the distributer when the slide valve 23, 24 of the latter is moved a slight distance from its neutral position, and a decompression valve 10 arranged to control a circuit 17 by-passing the distributers. A pump 8 is connected by a non-return valve 9 to the feed circuit 3 which has a branch 37 leading to a chamber 27 in the distributer controlling the jack 1, the chamber 27 in the neutral position of the slide valve 23, 24 being closed. If all the distributers are in their neutral positions, the pressure in the feed circuit 3 builds up and acts in a chamber 16 to move the spool 12 of the decompression valve against a spring 13 so as to connect the outlet of the pump to a port 20 leading to the by-pass circuit 17. A throttle 21 and non-return valve 26 connect the circuit 17 to the tank 5 so that the pressure in the circuit 17 is relatively low and acts through a port 19 on the spool 12 to assist the pressure in chamber 16 hold the spool against the stop 14. When the spool of the distributer is initially moved by a handle 35, the chamber 27 is connected by an axial passage and one or other of two radial passages in the spool to one or other of two ports 28, 29 leading to the return circuit 4 so that the pressure in the feed circuit 3 drops and permits the spring 13 to move the spool 12 and disconnect the pump from the by-pass circuit 17 whereby, when the spool of the distributer is moved further to connect the feed circuit to one side or the other of the jack, the pressure can build up to its operative valve. In alternative embodiments, the by-pass device consists of a slide valve or rotary valve operatively connected to the distributer so as to by-pass the latter when its spool is initially moved from its neutral position and permit the decompression valve to move to its operative position.
