865,785. Valves. SCHLEPHERWERK NORDHAUSEN VEB. Oct. 31, 1958 [May 24, 1958], No. 34996/58. Class 135. A control device for a double-acting actuator has four control positions arranged in a single plane of movement corresponding to " raise," " hold," " free movement " and " lower " actions. In Fig. 3 the valve member 3<SP>1</SP> is in the " hold " position and pressure fluid flows from the inlet 5 through a sleeve port 7, radial ports 8 and an axial bore 9 in the valve member to the outlet 12, while flow to and from the control ports 17, 22 is obturated, Figs. 4, 5, 6. On rotation of the valve member to the " raise " position, Fig. 4, by means of the handle 4<SP>1</SP>, fluid flows from the inlet 5 through sleeve ports 60 and longitudinal grooves 13 in the valve member and sleeve ports 61 to the control port 17, while the other control port 22 is in communication with the outlet 12 through the sleeve ports 20, radial valve bores 18 and axial bore 9. Rotation of the valve member to the " lower " position reverses these connections and in the " free movement " position all of the above connections freely interconnect. The valve member is loaded by a torsion spring 62 and has detent means so that if the handle 4<SP>1</SP> is released in the " lower " position it returns to the " free movement " position and if it is released from the " lifting " position it returns to the " hold " position. An additional set of control ports 17<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>1</SP> for further equipment may be provided in the valve housing and are brought into use and ports 17, 22 are obturated by moving the valve member axially to a second position, Fig. 2, not shown, in the housing by means of the control lever 4<SP>1</SP> when a second set of ports in the valve member (shown by the same reference numerals primed) comes into operation. A lever 28 connectible to the valve member 3<SP>1</SP> when it is in its second axial position, by a dog clutch 26, is connected to the further hydraulic equipment operated by the valve so that when the equipment reaches a preset position the valve is rotated to the " hold " position.
