Abstract
916,924. Cooling liquids. DESSINDECOR Ltd. Sept. 5, 1961 [Sept. 5, 1960], No. 30524/60. Classes 29 and 64 (3). Liquid-cooling apparatus comprises an outer container 11, a double-walled inner container 16 having a refrigerator evaporating coil 22, 23 disposed between the walls, and pipe connections 36, 38 communicating with the outer and inner containers, communication between the containers being provided by one or more openings in the inner container near one end of the apparatus. As shown, the container 11 comprises a tube 12 closed by plate 13 and surrounded by heat insulating material 14 and a cover 15. The liquid, e.g. beer, to be cooled passes through pipe connection 36 up the annular space formed between the containers 11, 16, then through openings 21 into the centre of container 16, whence it flows down and through tubes 40 and 39 into pipe connection 38 in base 29, the cooling being effected by contact with the walls 17, 18 of the container 16. Alternatively, the flow of liquid may be in the reverse direction. The helical cooling coils 22, 23 are joined at the top by junction member 26 and the temperature of the refrigerant is controlled by thermostat 41. In a modified construction, the pipe connection 36 is replaced by a pipe connection 48 in the base.
