Abstract

888,601. Refrigerating. HARLEY, J. July 3, 1958 [April 9, 1957], No. 11467/57. Class 29 In a continuous cycle absorbtion system using an inert gas, the rectifier 4, evaporator 7, and absorber 15 contain a helical wire 23, 24 or 25 in contact with the pipe walls. Weak solution is precooled by cold gases in heat exchanger 22. The gas heat exchanger comprises a casing 10 traversed by inert gas flowing to the evaporator, a hollow, annular duct 9 traversed by mixed gases leaving the evaporator and a central liquid refrigerant feed pipe 8. The evaporator may be disposed in 3 planes as shown in Fig. 2, the bottom coil carrying a fin 26, and a partition may be disposed between the central and bottom coils. The rectifier has fins 5 and similar fins may be mounted on the absorber and on the weak solution pipe 18 between the liquid heat exchanger 19 and heat exchanger 22.
