Abstract

Root resistant or repellent packing or sealing compounds comprise bitumen and one or more herbicides of low volatility soluble in bitumen but insoluble in water selected from esterification products of polychlorophenols with higher carbocylic acids or organic or inorganic polybasic acids; compounds of polyvalent metals with polychlorophenols and higher carboxylic acids; 2,4 dichlorophenoxy acetic acid, 2, 4, 5, trichlorophenoxy acetic acid and a -naphthyl acetic acid, or their salts, amisde or esters; phenyl N-isopropyl carbamic acid ester, or p-chlorophenyl dimethyl urea.
