Abstract
916,416. Kinematography and television lighting. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. Nov. 14, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 39062/60. Class 98 (2). [Also in Group XL (b)] In simultaneous kinematographic recording and televising, the general illumination is supplemented by one or more spotlights (for kinematographic purposes) the spectral characteristic of which and /or the television camera is such that the spotlight will not be effective in producing a charge on the television camera target. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the light from spotlight SB may be filtered by a filter F 1 (OG1) so that only the longer wavelengths, which will affect the film in cinecamera FK, reach television camera FSK. An additional filter F 2 (BG12) admits only shorter wavelengths of the general illumination from source GB. This second filter may be formed by the window of the television tube. If the photo-cathode is not responsive to the longer wavelengths, the second filter may be dispensed with. Instead of a second filter, a decelerating potential applied between the photo-cathode and the target electrode prevents low-energy electrons, due to light of longer wavelength, from reaching the target. The filter F 1 may be dispensed with if the spotlight has a spectrum of discrete wavebands (e.g. sodium). These may be filtered out of the television camera system by absorption filters or interference filters. Fig. 3 shows a unit combining a cine-camera FK and a television camera FSK using a single objective and a beam splitter T. An attenuating filter E comprises a cell with variablyseparable faces containing a neutral absorbing liquid. A wavelength-selective filter F 2 may be of similar construction but containing coloured liquid.
