916,188. Bearings &c. SCHMIDT G.m.b.H., KARL. Sept. 11, 1961 [Sept. 16, 1960], No. 32563/61. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A compound bearing which may be formed by weld plating, i.e. rolling, comprises a steel base or backing member and an aluminium alloy lining bonded together by the above process and then bent to required shapes such as bearing bushes or shells. The thickness of the lining and backing member being so chosen that said lining is at least as thick as the supporting base. One embodiment includes a lining which is three times as thick as the base member.
