Abstract
916,040. Transistor gating circuits. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. July 31, 1961 [Oct. 25, 1960], No. 36515/60. Class 40 (6). [Also in Group XXXIX] In order to produce a number of characteristic tones for use in a telephone exchange a common frequency generator 1 feeds the primaries of a number of transformers 3, the feed to each transformer being interrupted by a static switch according to the pattern which characterises the tone supplied by that transformer. A suitable form of static switch comprises transistors 21, 22, which respectively gate the positive and negative half-cycles delivered by generator 1 to the transformer 3. By switching the transistors together the transformer may be disconnected to interrupt the transformer output. Diodes 4 and 5 limit leakage current through the transistors while diodes 6 and 7 limit the voltage applied to the transistors.
