Abstract

915,994. Internal fittings for boxes. HARDIGG, J. S. Nov. 2, 1960 [Dec. 2, 1959], No. 37598/60. Class 18. [Also in Group XXXII] A body 22, Fig. 4, of cellular elastomeric material such as of foamed polyurethane resin for use as cushioning in shipping containers &c. has a number of relatively stiff elements 28 embedded therein and extending between the opposite surfaces. The elements 28 may be rods or tubes of rubber or neoprene which are embedded in the foam during the foam moulding process, when the foam may also be bonded to a backing 12 of corrugated fibreboard. Shock isolator elements for insertion in the corners of a container may be made by cutting the foam into squares and dividing the fibre board into L shaped sections which are bent up at 16, Fig. 1, the edges 18 being joined by staples 20.
