[Also in Group V] A packing block 1 for fragile articles, e.g. cathode ray tubes, comprises a rectangular block of wood wool, sisal, esparto grass, hemp or other fibrous material having shock absorbing properties and has a hard external surface of thermosetting resin, e.g. urea formaldehyde, and a low density resting area which may be bound with thermoplastic resin to give greater softness. The blocks 'may have one or more recesses in one surface and are arranged face to face to enclose the article or articles.
