Abstract

A metallizing paint, used for metallizing hair, comprises finely-divided metal, a polyamide resin and an epoxide resin. Optionally the paint composition may also include a resin binder of the type used as a base for aluminium paints and a urea-formaldehyde resin. The polyamide component is defined as the condensation polymer of dimerized (and trimerized) vegetable oil, unsaturated fatty acids and alkyl or aryl polyamines. Suitable epoxy resins are of the bisphenol-epichlorohydrin type. An exemplified paint composition comprises powdered aluminium, naphtha, an alkyd resin, linseed oil, xylol, cobalt naphthenate, a "Versamide" polyamide (Versamide is a Registered Trade Mark), isopropyl alcohol, toluene, an "Epikote" epoxy resin (Epikote is a Registered Trade Mark), xylene, methyl isobutyl ketone or methyl ethyl ketone, butyl "Cellosolve" (a Registered Trade Mark) and a urea-formaldehyde resin. A varnish coat may be applied over the paint after it has been allowed to dry. The exemplified varnish contains "Epikote 1001", "Epikote 834", a polyamide as a base and a urea-formaldehyde resin as well as several solvents.
