A mixing drum 1 for a tiltable rotating drum type concrete mixer has its base 1<SP>1</SP> shaped in outwardly concave form and stiffened by radial pressed steel arms 11 of U-shaped cross-section and wedge-shaped longitudinal form ; the drum is detachably connected to its bearing as by bolts passed through holes 2a. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown) the stiffening member is an outwardly convex dished circular plate in which radial stiffening webs which fill the interspace between the plate and the drum base are formed by pressing.
