Abstract

914,720. Crates for fruit; shopping bags; packages. POLO SARA, C. Feb. 16, 1961 [Nov. 19, 1960], No. 5838/61. Classes 18, 94(1) and 133. A crate comprises a light weight outer frame, a covering net 5 made of paper or vegetable fibres and an inner sealed paper container enclosing the contents and which is impermeable to water but will transmit air therethrough. The frame is formed of synthetic plastic corner pieces each having a rectangular part 6 and three stubs in or on which are secured paper tubes 7 by adhesive or by clamping. The tubes are treated with polyurethane so that they are impermeable to water. The corner pieces may be of polymer, polyester, polyamide or polyurethane. The fruit is packed in a lattice of perforated corrugated cardboard and sealed in a transparent enclosure of paper. The parts 6 permit air to circulate between stacked crates. If the net is removed from the frame it can be used as a shopping bag.
