Abstract

914,107. Pipe fittings. KEY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 16, 1961 [Sept. 26, 1960], No. 33016/60. Class 99(1). A fitting for insertion into a curved wall 8 of a tank, pipe or the like comprises a tapered threaded or threadable plug portion 3 which terminates in a contoured face 6 shaped to conform to the internal curvature of the wall 8, 8, the flange 5 integral with or rigidly secured to the fitting and having one or more recesses 9 which serve, when the tapered plug is inserted into the wall 8, to show the position of the contoured end face 6 relative to the wall 8 and also to receive a locating pin or screw 15. As shown the screw 15 is inserted into a hole 14 provided in a washer 11 which is contoured at 13 to conform to the external curvature of the wall 8. A resilient gasket 16, e.g. of neoprene is provided between the washer 11 and wall 8.
