Abstract

913,752. Winding yarns. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER A.G. May 9, 1960 [May 15, 1959], No. 16330/60. Class 120 (2). A cross-winding machine in which winding units are arranged to rotate past a control position and in which the drive to the units is transmitted by sun and planet gearing has means responsive to yarn breakage to disengage a planet-wheel from the sun-wheel. A table 5, which carries eight units each comprising a supply bobbin E, a grooved traverse drum 7 and a take-up bobbin 12, is rotated step-by-step on a fixed frame 1 to bring each unit in turn into line with a control device F. Each drum is driven from a motor 27 through a variable drive 28a, a sun-wheel 26, a wheel 18 fixed to a spindle 16 which is rotatable in a housing 15 pivoted at 14 to the table 5, and a belt 21. In each unit a hook 50a on a yarn feeler 50 normally engages a rod 54 hinged to the housing 15 to hold the wheel in contact with the sun wheel 26. Upon failure of a yarn, the associated rod 54 is released and a tension-spring 56 rotates the housing 15 to disengage the wheel 18 and move its hub 19 into contact with a face 5c of the table 5 which stops rotation of the unit. After each partial rotation of the table 5, a cam 45 is rotated and a spring-biased lever 41 carrying a cam follower 42 moves a rod 40 to rotate a fork 35 about a shaft 34 so that a friction disc 36 on a shaft 32 rotatable in the fork 35 and driven from the motor 27 engages the friction disc 37 of a shaft 38. When a stationary unit reaches the control device F, the friction head 38a of the shaft 38 engages the wheel 18 to disengage it from the face 5c and to rotate the shaft 16 in an unwinding direction to facilitate knotting. As the cam 45 completes its rotation a tappet 59 engages a follower 60 to rotate a spring-biased lever 61 and raise a rod 63 to reset the levers 51, 53.
