Abstract
913,450. Programmed electric-control systems. NORTHROP CORPORATION. Feb. 6, 1961, No. 4421/61. Class 38 (6). A complex system 26, e.g. a missile, is automatically tested by applying signals in sequence from an unspecified device 27 to selected input points and measuring the responses with a digital vacuum-tube voltmeter and a frequency meter 28, connected in sequence to selected output points. The input and output points are selected by decade stepping switches, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), in accordance with binary-coded instructions, Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown), from a tape reader 21, Fig. 3 (not shown). The tape also supplies upper and lower tolerance values for each test to a comparator 31, Fig. 8 (not shown), which provides " High," " Go " or " Low " signals to an indicator 32, Fig. 9 (not shown), which also supplies the actual measurement signals from 28 to a printer 33. The tape only advances to the next test on receipt of a " Go " signal.
