Abstract

912,652. Drawers; sliding shelves. MASON & SONS Ltd., E. N. April 13, 1959 [April 11, 1958], No. 11652/58. Class 52 (1). A sheet metal panel structure, for use as a drawer front, is formed of two plates 3, 4 held against relative sliding movement by abutting against two flanged capping members 5. In a pedestal desk (Fig. 1, not shown), the flanges 10a around the front edges of capping member 5 are rolled to a channel form to provide a beading and a recess 33 in the front plate 3 accommodates the handle 34. Gaps 8a in flanges 8 accommodate stirrups 15 to which the upper ends of tie rods 12 are secured by locking nuts. The sides 18 and bottom 19 of the drawer are secured to back plate 4 by tongues 18a, 19a. The construction is applied to the front of a sliding shelf (Figs. 1, 5 and 6, not shown) having a welded frame and a recessed upper surface carrying a sheet of glass.
