Abstract

911,987. Tubular heat-exchangers. ALFA ROMEO S.p.A. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959]. No. 31468/60. Class 64 (3). A heat - exchanger comprises a tubular member 1, the interior of which constitutes a flow path for a liquid and has internal and external longitudinally extending fins 3 and 2, the external fins 2 stopping substantially short of the ends of the member 1, wherein a jacket element 4 surrounds the external fins and constitutes a flow path for another liquid, this jacket being provided with sealing means 14 and 15 engaging the tubular member beyond the end of the external fins, and the ends of the tubular member extend beyond the jacket and the sealing means. To ensure a closer contact between the internal liquid and the fins 3 there is provided a cylindrical member 9, one end of which is closed by a plug 16. In this embodiment the internal and external fins 3 and 2 are formed integral with the tubular member 1, while in Fig. 3 (not shown), U-shaped longitudinally arranged fins are soldered to the member 1, and in Fig. 4 (not shown), the fins are transversely creased tapes soldered to the member 1.
