[Also in Group XXIX] In an hydraulic motor-operated machine, e.g. a load handling machine, press or jack, a three-way selector control valve unit comprises a non - return valve V4, V23, Fig. 2, controlling flow between a supply port B and a discharge port D and a similar non-return valve V12, V25 controlling flow between the supply port B and an outlet port C. The ports B, C, D are in a body A which has a two-diameter opening accommodating the two-part valve unit V having ports VB, VC, VA which register with body ports B, C, and D, respectively, the ports VA and VB being covered with oil filters V18, V17, respectively. The seats V23, V25 of the non-return valves are of truncated hollow form. A thrustrod V13 having flattened sides is located between the valve members V4, V12 and there is provided a plunger control member V5 which is bored to receive a spring V20 which acts on a thrust-rod V22 for controlling the valve member V4. The plunger V5 is operated against the action of a returnspring V6. The valve may be used with an operator-operated pump or a variable-speed pressure type pump or with a pump of the independent constant-speed and/or constant pressure type. The plunger V5 can be depressed by varying extents to effect the necessary port connections for motor operation. If the plunger is depressed to open both valves completely the valve unit is then in the neutral unloaded position. The plunger V5 may be depressed to a position which locates the ball V4 or both balls V4, V12 in their conical seats V23, V25 so that they effect a metering control and thus determine the speed at which the motor operates. When the plunger V5 is fully withdrawn the balls V4, V12 operate in non- return manner. As described, the selector valve is used to control the operation of the platform of an hydraulic truck or stacker.
