Abstract

911,504. Drilling machines. HORSTMANN & SHERWEN Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 42177/59. Class 83 (3). A stand for a portable drill comprises a base 1 housing a magnetic work-gripping core 2 controlled by an electrical assembly 4, a pillar 8 supported for rotary adjustments by a rod 5 screwed to the core, and a head 18 carrying a drill 9 clamped at 26, and fed by a rack-andpinion 20, 19, actuated by a handle 22 against a friction brake 24. Pillar 8 is guided on the rod by eccentric washers 10 braced by rods 11 which extend through a cap 13, so that on rotation of the pillar, after loosening of cap 13 and angular movement of washers 10, the pillar along with the drill is adjusted transversely of the base. An adjustable work engaging foot 29 is connected to the pillar by a plate 31 welded to a handle 30, and a plate 28, the plates being secured by circlips 32. Specification 811,458 is referred to.
