Abstract
The invention comprises dyes which in the form of their free acids are of the formula:- <FORM:0910849/IV (b)/1> where X is -N=N- or -CH=CH-, n is 1 or 2, T is a trihalogenpyrimidinyl radical and the rings A and B may carry further substituents, such as alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy and halogen. The dotted lines of the formula indicate that when n=1 the sulphonic acid radical may be attached to A or B and when n=2 the radicals may be both attached to the same ring or to different rings. The dyes may be made by condensing a compound of the above general formula but where T is hydrogen with a tetrahalogenopyrimidine. Examples are given. The dyes dye and print textile materials of silk, wool, regenerated protein or cellulose in conjunction with a treatment with an acid-binding agent, and also dye silk, wool, regenerated protein, polyamides and modified polyacrylonitrile materials from weakly acid or neutral solution and print silk, wool and regenerated protein material by conventional methods, giving green shades.
