Abstract
910,465. Rotary pumps and motors. MARSHALL, J. W. July 2, 1959 [July 3, 1958; Nov. 6, 1958; June 19, 1959], Nos. 21305/58, 35657/58 and 21070/59. Class 110 (2). A rotary pump or motor of the rotary abutment type, Fig. 1, is provided with a spring-loaded plunger 36 in one side of its high-pressure conduit 15 in order to determine the degree of compression therein, the lower face 38 of said plunger forming a movable continuation of the stator wall 21. The plunger may be adjusted by hand or automatically controlled in response to the pressure in the conduit 15. Again, the plunger may be adjusted by an hydraulic relay responsive to external apparatus associated with the machine. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the plunger is replaced by a rotary valve mounted in an adjustable ported sleeve. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the end wall of the casing is provided with a stationary delivery port 53 controlled by an adjustable shutter, the female rotor 13 having end plates 55 formed with ports 54. A pressure-equalizing groove 62 is also provided. The ported end plates may be secured to the male rotor (see Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). The male rotor may coact with two or three female rotors to form a multiple unit (see Figs. 9 and 10, not shown), respectively.
