Abstract
1322945 Roller vane rotary pump ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 12 Aug 1970 [9 Oct 1969] 38857/70 Heading F1F [Also in Division H2] Pumping apparatus for delivering fuel comprises an electric motor and a roller vane pump in a common liquid-filled housing 1-3, the pump and motor having a unitary rotor 41 of G.R.P. which is axially slidable on a fixed non- rotary shaft 5. The rotor 41 houses the motor armature laminations 43 and windings 44, has a flange 45 forming an end wall of the pump, and a slotted portion 46 housing rollers and is biased against a plate 40 by springs 19 which bear against carbon brushes 18. The plate 40 is apertured to provide pump inlet and outlet ports communicating with inlet 29 and outlet 30 respectively, the outlet being communicable with the inlet via an annular recess 35, an adjustably biased ring 39 and a chamber 34. As a further safeguard, the rotor 41 may move against the springs 19 to connect the inlet and outlet ports via the liquid-filled chamber 9. In a modification, Figs.3 and 4 (not shown) the ring-valve is dispensed with, and the output pressure at which the rotor 41 lifts off to shortcircuit the pump is controlled by varying the size of a throttling aperture connecting the interior 9 of the casing to the pump inlet, and in the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), communication between the interior 9 of the casing and the pump inlet is via a spring-loaded annular valve.
