In a device for measuring the moisture content of a travelling textile web, warm air from blower 3 is conveyed through duct 6 and passed through the textile web indicated at 1, the temperature of the air being measured, before and after passing through the web, by thermocouples 2 and 8 arranged at a distance upstream and downstream of the web. The thermocouples are connected in series so as to indicate the temperature difference between the air upstream and downstream of the web. The assembly consisting of the slotted web guide and the thermocouples may be arranged to pivot down or slide sideways relative to duct 6 on the approach of a protuberance such as a knot in the textile web.
