Abstract

A method of manufacturing a container and closure member comprises injecting a fluid into a length of tube of a thermoplastic material while it is in a heated, deformable condition within a mould so that the container and closure member are formed integrally the enclosure member being then separated from the container for subsequent use as a detachable closure. The mould may be in two parts which when brought together around an extruded theremoplastic tube closes its ends whence an air injection tube is introduced axially into the mould to facilitate the blow-moulding. When the article is released from the mould the closure member which may be of any type e.g. a screw top is severed from the container. The thermoplastic material may be polyethylene or polypropylene.
