Abstract
800,534. Injection-moulding endpieces for collapsible tubes. BASSAN, M. July 7, 1955 [May 2, 1955], No. 19664/55. Class 87(2). A moulding device, in which a rigid body of thermoplastic material, e.g., polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, is moulded and bonded to a flexible tubular body to form a container, comprises a core assembly 16, a cover 11 adjacent to one end of that assembly, and a flexible sealing ring 13. The tubular body 1 of the container is drawn over the core so that its end extends between the core and the cover, and the sealing ring 13 is then axially compressed between two parts 14, 19 of the core so that by radial expansion of the seal the end of the tubular body is clamped between the core and cover. The end part 19 of the core is complementary in form to the body to be moulded, is slidable axially relatively to the rest of the core, and abuts at one end against a stop 10. Tightening of a screw 20 in a frame 8 causes compression of the sealing ring. A two-part mould 6 mounted in the frame 8 is provided with cavities 9 to receive covers 11 and core parts 19. The thermoplastic material is injected through a common inlet into the mould cavities between the covers 11 and core parts 19, and fuses with the ends of the tubular bodies 1 projecting into those cavities.
