910,841. Moulding containers. PLASTIC PACKAGING Ltd. April 5, 1961 [Jan. 20, 1960], No. 2134/60. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XVII] A container or container closure is moulded from thin plastic sheet material by means of suction and/or fluid e.g. air pressure in a metal mould body 8 having a separate member 10 rigidly secured to it. Suction passages 14 are formed in the body 8 and a similar passage 13 in the member 10. The sheet material is heated, and forced downwards by a plunger to the position indicated at 1a so that a seal is formed at 14. Suction is applied through the passages 13, 14 and/or fluid pressure may be applied internally to the walls of the sheet material so that the member 10 moulds an inset nozzle in the end of the sheet material. The sheet material in the area of the nozzle becomes thinner than that of the container walls.
