909,847. Converting; changing waveform. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. Sept. 3, 1959 [Sept. 11, 1958], No. 30143/59. Class 38 (2). A circuit for deriving a sawtooth current from an A.C. supply comprises a transformer t1 whose output is passed through a rectifying bridge having a choke i1 and resistors r1, r2 in its D.C. circuit so as to provide a square. wave current which is applied to capacitors k2 to give a sawtooth waveform. A transformer t2, having a core of square hysteresis loop material is also supplied by the square-wave current and provides, through secondary windings 22, additional impulses at the peaks of the sawtooth waveform to provide a waveform as shown in Fig. 3. This voltage together with a variable control voltage #U is fed to control the instant of conduction of a transistor amplifier p1 giving outputs U ST1 , U ST11 which may be amplified and fed to the grids of mercury arc rectifiers.
