Abstract
909,551. Space charge wave tubes. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 22, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 44118/60. Class 39 (1). In a parametric amplifier there is a deflection electrode located between the input and output coupling means and shaped as a cylinder or cone and formed as a loaded waveguide in which a quadrupole field is produced by a pump signal. The pump frequency may be less than the signal frequency. In Fig. 2 a H 21 wave is coupled to a waveguide 1 which may be a helix or a cylindrical hollow pipe waveguide loaded with dielectric or corrugated at two places displaced by (#). The input and output circuits may also be delay lines, e.g. an interdigitated line or a corrugated waveguide. The electron beam may have a special periodicity. The input wave may be circularly polarized. Backward waves may be used. An axial magnetic field focuses the electron beam.
