909,434. Axial rolling. PLATT Ltd., SAMUEL. Aug. 16, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 29831/60. Class 83 (4). A machine for straightening bars or tubes of the kind incorporating a pair of rolls, each rotatable in the same direction, in which machine the bar or tube to be straightened is passed between the rolls in a direction generally parallel to the length of the rolls, is characterized in that one roll 12 of the two rolls is formed with two or more circumferentially extending shallow grooves 14 and the other roll 11 is provided with a corresponding number of complementary circumferentially extending shallow ribs 15. One roll is adjustable to and from the other and the axes of the rolls are contained in a common horizontal plane.
