Cement is packaged by first being compacted and then pressed just sufficiently to form a shape retaining body and then being enclosed in an air and moisture tight wrapping of plastic sheet. It may be enclosed between opposed sheets sealed at their edges, in a single folded sheet with edge seals or in a tube, opposed ends of which are flattened and sealed. The compacting may be effected by vibration.
