1,025,124. Vacuum silage. C. G. JOWSEY, and J. L. DOUTRE. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 17, 1963; Oct. 2, 1963], No. 30559/64. Heading A1F. [Also in Division E2] Apparatus for making silage comprises sheets 5, 6 of gas-impermeable plastics material between which the material to be ensilaged is placed, the edges of the sheets being sealed by means of a plastics tube 1 which is forced in to a resilient member 2 so that an airtight container is formed. Air is evacuated from the container by means of a pump. The member 2, which may be of channel-section, may be embedded in concrete, the lower sheet then being laid over the top of the concrete or embodied as a membrane within the concrete.
