Abstract
Methyl trimethoxy silane is converted to dimethyldimethoxy- and/or trimethylmethoxysilane by reacting above 200 DEG C. with an alkali metal or an alkali metal oxide, methoxide, silanolate or salt of a siloxanol in an amount of from 0,1 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts of silane.
