Abstract
908,826. Bearing cages. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN A.B. Jan. 20, 1961 [Feb. 3, 1960], No. 2357/61. Class 12 (1). A cage for rolling bearings comprises a number of H-sectioned spacers 17, Figs. 1, 2, 9, resiliently held in side rings 11 (only one shown). Spacers 17 are sprung over a chamfered portion 13 on the ring, the ends 110 engage the bottom face 15 of an annular groove 12, and the web 18 engages a top face 14, thus holding the spacers axially and providing the required spacing around the groove. The spacers are removed by inserting a tool through holes 114 in the rings, and depressing the ends 110. The curvature of the spacers is less than that of groove 12, or in a modification, the positions of faces 14, 15 are reversed, and the curvature of the spacers is greater than that of the groove. In a further modification, Figs. 5, 6, 10, the spacers 57 are of quadrelateral form, and the curvature is less than that of groove 52. In a still further modification, Figs. 7, 8, spacers 77 have a web 78, and end flanges 79 which are curved in the axial direction and are resilient so that ends 710 engage surface 75 of a groove 72 and middle portions 712 engage face 74, the spacers being prevented from dropping and by a wall 76. In another modification, Figs. 11-13, the spacers 97 have hooks 96 which project through holes 915 in side rings 91, the ends 910 engage surface 94 of groove 92, and web 912 engages surface 95 of the groove.
