Abstract

A light distillate of boiling range 40 DEG to 170 DEG C. is desulphurized by being mixed with an equimolecular amount of hydrogen and passing the resulting mixture at a pressure of 300 lbs./in.2 through a bed of zinc oxide, then through a bed comprising a mixture of oxides of cobalt and molybdenum supported on alumina and finally through a second bed of zinc oxide, all three beds being heated to between 380 DEG -400 DEG C.
