Abstract

A catalyst U-tube contains a contact material supported between plugs of silver wool, the contact material being made by mixing 70 parts of zinc and nickel oxide (1:1.5) with 15 parts of a carrier firebrick, and heating with a silver wool to 350 DEG C in a stream of hydrogen until no water is present. The contact material is regenerated by heating in a hydrogen stream for several hours.
