Abstract

908,085. Vehicle lighting systems. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. March 20, 1961 [May 5, 1960], No. 15888/60. Class 38 (4). A motor vehicle lighting circuit comprises a switch 5 whereby a front side lamp 3 and a rear lamp 4 on one side only of the vehicle may be illuminated in order to act as parking lights. In the position of the switch 5 shown in full lines, near side front and tail lamps 9 and 10 and offside front and tail lamps 3 and 4 shown in blocks 8 and 2 respectively, together with rear number plate illuminating lamps 11 and instrument lamps 12, are connected through switch terminals 6a, 6b, and a connection 1 to a side lamp terminal of a lighting selector switch, not shown. In this position also a starter solenoid or ignition coil is connected to an ignition switch through switch terminals 7a, 7b. When the switch 5 is put in the position shown by broken lines, only the off-side, front and tail lamps 3, 4 are illuminated and the starter solenoid or ignition coil circuit is broken, thus preventing the engine of the vehicle from being started when only the off-side lamps have been selected.
