907,944. Expanding-wheel gear and control. VAN DOORNE'S AUTOMOBIELFABRIEK N.V. Jan. 20, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 2171/59. Class 80 (2). In a V-belt expanding pulley gear for a motor vehicle wherein an axially movable driving pulley half 5 is pressed towards a half 4 axially fast on a driving shaft 1 by springs 16 and centrifugally actuated cams 11 pivoted at 9 on a member 7 fixed to the shaft 1, the half 5 is also movable in response to variation in inlet manifold depression which acts through a gland 19 in a chamber formed by a cylinder 18 fast on the movable driving pulley half 5 and by the member 7 functioning as a piston. Light springs 13 maintain cam engagement when the shaft 1 is stationary.
