Abstract

907,023. Radiographic films. CHASSENDEBAROZ, N. J. M. P. F. Dec. 19, 1958 [Dec. 19, 1957; Aug. 13, 1958], No. 41077/58. Drawings to Specification. Classes 98 (1) and 98 (2). A photographic film for radiographic work is coated with an emulsion containing silver chloride, the thickness being less than 50 microns (preferably 10-15 microns), and the silver content being 100-200 mg/sq. dm. This corresponds to a quantity of silver several times as much as is normally used in known silver chloride emulsions. An example is given of the preparation of a suitable emulsion. The use of such an emulsion gives a greater degree of difference between the photographic effect of relatively low-energy X-rays and relatively high-energy γ-rays than the use of silver bromide emulsions. Thus in cases where it is desired to photograph the effect of the X-rays in a beam, the effect of γ-rays unavoidably present in the same radiation beam not being required and tending to, fog the picture, the emulsion according to the invention gives increased contrast.
