[Also in Groups IX and XIV] A laminate comprises a sheet 1 of thermoplastic synthetic foam material, e.g. polyurethane, provided with a textile cover 2 which fits over the top, and around the edges of the sheet, and the cover is permanently or detachably joined to the underside of the sheet, e.g. by adhesive or welding, the foam material being provided with a non-slip water-repellent underside by leatherizing, i.e. closing the pores of the foamed material by application of heat and pressure. The sides 5 of the foam material may also be leatherized, e.g. by heat-cutting. The leatherized surfaces may be profiled to prevent slipping, and the top side of the foam material may also be leatherized and profiled. The textile cover may be plush-type cloth.
