Abstract
906,459. Automatic frequency-control systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 26, 1960 [Sept. 30, 1959], No. 29583/60. Class 40 (5). A wideband tunable U.H.F. oscillator, e.g. for a television receiver converter, includes a tuning line 1 with tuning and trimmer capacitors 2, 10, respectively, lines 4, 5 indicating the standing wave voltages on the line at limits of the frequency range. A.F.C. is provided by two at least voltage variable resistances, e.g. capacitors 12, 13 located preferably at the voltage nodes 6, 7 so that one at least is effective at each frequency limit and both effective intermediately of the range, so that a desired frequency control throughout the tuning range is obtained. Increased A.F.C. effectiveness with increase of tuning frequency may be obtained by displacing one variable capacitor 12 away from node 6 towards tuning capacitor 2. Different control voltages may be applied to both variable capacitors 12, 13 and each may have different capacity variation characteristics.
