In a nuclear power plant, the steam produced in the reactor is passed to the turbine through a contact washing equipment to remove the radioactivity. As shown, the turbine 25 is supplied with steam from reactor 10 after purification in washer 21. After leaving 21, through 23, the decontaminated steam is superheated in coil 15 of the heat exchanger 13. The latter receives superheated steam from the reactor through 12, which flows to the inlet of 21 through 18. The water from condenser 25a is superheated at coil 14 in 13 and returned to the reactor by pump 19. In a modification, not shown, two separate heat exchangers replace the single exchanger 13.
