Abstract

905,396. Two-way transmissions. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Jan. 19, 1959 [Jan. 22, 1958], No. 1912/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). In a two-way amplifier comprising two oneway amplifiers connected to respective lines via hybrid transformers, the input and output impedances of the amplifiers are arranged so that substantially the whole of the energy coming in is dissipated in the line-balancing network. In these circumstances the impedance presented by the amplifier to the line is substantially that of the balancing network so that the line and amplifier impedances are perfectly matched and no reflections take place. To satisfy the required condition the amplifiers are required to have very high input impedance and very low output impedance or vice versa. Suitable amplifiers in the respective cases may be emitter follower transistor amplifiers or grounded base transistor amplifiers.
