Abstract
904,441. Permanent magnets. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 20, 1958 [Oct. 20, 1957], No. 33405/58. Class 35. A magnetic rotor comprises a central axial shaft 6 on which is coaxially mounted a non-magnetic ring 4 to which are secured the inner ends 3 of pole plates 2 which extend radially outwards of the ring between pairs of adjacent permanent magnets 1 circularly arranged side by side around the ring with the magnetization direction substantially tangential and pairs of like poles mutually adjacent, each pole plate having at its outer end a flange 8 retaining the adjacent magnet or magnets in position. The magnets may have an H 0 greater than 10,000 ersted, and may be additionally attached to the rings by an adhesive, and the ring may be of chrome-nickel steel. Alternatively, to the shape shown in Fig. 2, the magnets 1 may be rectangular and the pole plates 2 of circumferential thickness which increases towards its outer periphery.
