Abstract

Pellets of substantially equal weight and substantially spherical shape are obtained by first producing non-spherical pellets of substantially equal weight, e.g. cylindrical pellets obtained by punching from strip, and then allowing these to fall through a bath of liquid which is so heated that the temperature in the upper part of the bath is above the melting point of the pellet material, while the temperature in the lower part is below that melting point. The treatment of indium in silicone oil and in n-octoic acid is referred to, as is the treatment of indium and indium-gallium alloys in brominated n-octoic acid and in a mixture of n-octoic acid and monochloracetic acid.
