Abstract

904,178. Refrigerating. TRANE CO. March 10, 1961, No. 8918/61. Class 29. [Also in Group XXIX] In a continuous cycle absorption system, preferably of the type using a saline solution as the absorbent and the solvent as the refrigerant, the generator 14 is heated by liquid circulated therethrough and through a heat source 88 by a pump 86 and, at periods of reduced load, spent liquid is recirculated to the generator without passing through the heat source. As shown, a change in load is detected by a thermal element 94 responsive to the temperature of fluid chilled by evaporator 16 and this controls through an air-pressure system (see Group XXIX) a modulating valve 87 controlling the proportions of liquid drawn from the heat source 88 and the recirculating pipe 89 by-passing the heat source. Should the liquid temperature at the inlet of pump 86 become excessive, a thermal element 104 actuates control 103 to operate valve 87 so that it is closed to flow from the heat source. U.S.A. Specification 3,005,318 is referred to.
