Abstract
904,041. Magnetic fastenings. KNIGHT, W. Feb. 1, 1961 [Feb. 2, 1960], No. 3576/60. Class 44. [Also in Group XVII] In a lidded container in which the lid is detachable, a rim 101 bounding the top of the body 10 of the container or a rim 112 bounding the underside of the lid 11 is provided with a permanent magnet or magnets 12 and either the rim bounding the underside of the lid or the rim bounding the top of the body as may be appropriate is fitted with a keeper or keepers 13 and the magnet or magnets are located so that the keeper or keepers is or are contacted by the magnet or magnets when the lid is fitted to the body. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the magnets project below the rim of the lid and engage keepers which are recessed into the rim of the container body. The container is fitted in a hole in a rear window shelf of a motor vehicle, Fig. 7 (not shown).
